Looking for activities for the whole family during the March Break?
Join us for a fun week for all ages at the Carleton Place Public Library!

NOTE: Scroll down to find more details about all our events, and to find registration links!
WHEN:
March Break starts on Monday, March 16th, and ends on Friday, March 20th at the Carleton Place Public Library. While the calendar below shows the daily activities, there will also be plenty of free-play activities happening any time you drop by all week!
WHERE:
All March Break activities will take place at the library in the Kids Corner of the library, or in the Barbara Walsh room!
COSTS:
With the exception of our babysitters course on Friday, March 20th, and the Stay-Safe Course on Saturday, March 14th, all programs are free to attend for children of all ages! Programs marked on the calendar with a * are registration events – which means they have limited spots available, and you must register your child for them. Scroll down to see descriptions for each event, and to find registration links!
WHO:
Many activities are for all ages, but there are a few special sessions that are aimed at a specific group. All of our self-directed activities throughout the week are for all ages – just like the library itself!
SPECIAL NOTES:
Parents should plan on staying in the library during all of the events. Most of the activities are self-directed (the child decides what activity they wish to participate in and how long they’d like to stay), and staffing will be limited. While we’d love to be able to watch every child for the entire session, it just won’t be possible.
A few events require a parent (or two) in order to participate. For example, the Mini Maker info session requires a parent to attend with their child. See event descriptions below for more details!

The Babysitter’s Course is offered by “13 First Aid Training”–a certified Red Cross associated program, and is open to kids aged 11-15. Each participant will learn the basic skills to keep themselves and any young charges they might have safe. They will receive a certificate upon completion of the course. It is an all-day course, so please plan on sending your child with snacks, a refillable water bottle, and lunch–they will be supervised at the library over lunch. Science Saturday (1:00 – 3:00 pm) Ages 10+ * REGISTRATION EVENT *
- Join our favourite science-fan Adrian as he brings back another fun and interactive afternoon of science experiments. Kids aged 10 and up need to register for this event. Parents do not have to stay in the library, but please make sure your child is able to contact you in case the session ends a bit early. STEM programming at the library is super important as it exposes kids to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math skills they may not get in the classroom. We welcome kids with any experience and a willingness to think critically and try something new. Registration for this event will open on Monday, March 2nd at 9:30am here (a registration link will be available then), as well as on social media channels.
